Taize Service
Candle-lit Taize Service For Candlemas, in St Buryan church on Sunday 4th February, at 6pm, a gentle series of chants and readings which help us to be still and reflect together. If you have not tried a Taize service before, why not make coming to this your new year resolution? Everyone welcome.

 

Book & Jigsaw Exchange

Film Showing, The Shack
“The Shack” will be shown at the Rectory in St Buryan on Thursday 8th February, at 2pm. Please book a place on the sofa! If there is enough interest we could do a second showing later that evening. “Based on the New York times best-selling novel, the shack takes us on a father’s uplifting spiritual journey. After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips (Sam Worthington) spirals into a deep depression causing him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters a trio of strangers led by the enigmatic papa. through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever.”   

 

Ash Wednesday
is on Wednesday 14th February and there are two services available, both include a eucharist and imposition of ashes. The first is at 12noon at St Levan church followed by a soup lunch at the Logan Rock Inn. Please could you let the churchwardens know if you intend to have lunch. The evening service this year is at St Buryan church at 7.30pm. Come along and begin your lenten preparations by spending some time in prayer and reflection.

 

Choral Evensong
Sunday 18th February in St Buryan church, at 6pm. A gentle reflective service from the Book of Common Prayer, led by a member of the Ministry Team with choral singing by St Buryan Church Choir.

Lent Course 2018
Lent 2018 in the Land’s End Benefice, ‘Exploring the Art Work of Lent, Holy Week and Easter’. Thursday 22nd February, Tuesday 27th February, Tuesday 6th March,  Tuesday  13th March, Tuesday 20th March.  All at 7.30pm. More details to follow...

Intercession Tutorial
Have you wanted to lead the intercession in church but worried about what to do and how to go about it? Or are you currently on an intercession rota, but would like to refresh about leading intercessions? Why not come along to the Rectory on Thursday 1st March at 7.30pm? Please let Vanda know if you are coming so she can make sure enough material are available (and seats!)

 

A Grand Jumble Sale
is taking place on Saturday 3rd March in St Buryan Village Hall, from 1.30pm -3.30pm. A good chance to look through your cupboards etc and have a clear-out! Will be delighted at anything you can find as long as it’s sale-able. Money raised will go towards church funds. Messy Church
is on Sunday 4th March  (changed date) at 4.30pm in Sennen Churchtown Hall. Come and join in a fun afternoon of crafts, activities, stories and games, ending with a delicious tea. Medical Maelstrom Concert
Friday 9th March, in St Buryan Church. All proceeds to St Buryan church. This trio has been performing for over ten years always purely for charity. They are highly skilful, professional and very entertaining. They have a wide appeal and often their audience are repeat visitors. Night Prayer & Meditation
Night Prayer and Meditation on Monday 26th March and Tuesday 27th March at 7.30pm, in St Buryan church. A lovely, peaceful way to end your day.

Maundy Thursday Service
Thursday 29th March, 7.30pm, in St Levan church. A united Land’s End Benefice service of The Last Supper and Vigil.

Good Friday Services
On Friday 30th March, there is a traditional solemn Eucharist from the Reserved Sacrament at 10am in St Buryan church and a short informal Family Service in Sennen church, which is also at 10am and will end with Hot Cross Buns and drinks. Then three informal ‘Hours at the Cross’ with meditations, prayers and hymns, spread across the Benefice, starting at 12 noon at St Buryan church, 1pm at St Levan church and 2pm at Sennen church. You are all very welcome to come to any one or all of them.

 

April

Easter Day Services
He is Risen Alleluia! Services on Easter Day, Sunday 1st April in the Lands End Benefice, 9.30am Easter Eucharist at St Levan church; 10am Easter Eucharist at St Buryan church; 11am Easter Eucharist at Sennen church. Come along and join the celebrations and enjoy an Easter Egg.

is a global prayer campaign, supported by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, to encourage us all to pray 'Come holy Spirit' from Ascension Day, Thursday 10th May  to Pentecost Sunday 20th May 2018. More information available on www.ThyKingdomCome.global
